Hello! I’m Caroline Orr. I’m an editor specialising in mathematics and speculative fiction.

I am an Advanced Professional Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) with degrees in Logic (MSc) and Mathematics (BSc) and a background in software development. I’m also a Professional Member of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. I’m one of many who have swapped a career in IT for life as a freelance editor, and I love it.

I’m based in Durham (United Kingdom, not North Carolina), but over the years I’ve lived in Cheltenham, Oxford, London and Amsterdam. Cycling is definitely easiest in Amsterdam.

When I’m not working I like reading (of course!), computer games (mostly Elder Scrolls, although I’m currently addicted to Fallout Shelter), cricket and wine. In July I turn into a cycling fan for the duration of the Tour de France.

You can contact me at hello@orreditorial.com.

Caroline Orr is a thoroughly professional and exacting editor. Having worked with Caroline on my first full novel, I was impressed by her attention to detail and her commitment to maintaining my voice. From researching a sensible local place name to helping the reader follow my delving in and out of the first person, Caroline helped keep the narrative alive and on track. I would heartily recommend Caroline to any author.

Caroline has been a pleasure to work with. She is flexible, thorough, and has a great eye for detail and consistency. Her technical knowledge meant that she was able to quickly get to grips with our digital product and provide meaningful feedback with both developer and editorial needs in mind.
